This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Mattie McGrath and Joe Hannigan withdrew their Tipperary election legal action in the High Court, reported on 6 February 2020.

The case followed a decision to postpone the constituency poll after candidate Marese Skehan died.

It ended after Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy signed a special order allowing the vote to proceed as planned.

The candidates had challenged the returning officer’s decision and sought orders concerning the Electoral Act and Constitution.

Mr Justice Charles Meenan made no order as to costs, so both sides paid their own costs.
