Mark McCarthy had a 15-year sentence substituted for aggravated burglary by the Court of Appeal on 23 March 2018.
The court said his original nine-year term for the tiger kidnapping at Forest Park, Drogheda, was clearly inadequate.
The appeal followed a sentence imposed by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court after McCarthy pleaded guilty before trial. The Court of Appeal said the appropriate sentence, after allowing for mitigation, was 15 years dating from 30 November 2013.
