This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Judge Melanie Greally sentenced Mark Davis to four years’ imprisonment, with the final two years suspended, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The sentence was to run consecutively to a prison term he was already serving for endangerment, which the report said would end “next June”.

Davis pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving. The incident occurred in Tallaght on 27 March 2015. The proceedings were reported on 19 January 2017.

Judge Melanie Greally also ordered one year of probation supervision. Davis was already subject to a 20-year driving disqualification.

The report described a ten-minute pursuit during which Davis drove at between 80km/h and 100km/h in a 50km/h zone. He repeatedly crossed onto the wrong side of the road and broke red lights, forcing cars to brake. He also crossed in front of a Luas tram against a red light, forcing it to brake suddenly.

Sarah Jane O’Callaghan, defending, told the court that Davis “panicked” when he saw gardaí because he had no insurance, driving licence or NCT certificate for the car. She said his involvement in a gang feud following a row involving his ex-girlfriend had placed him under extreme stress. She submitted that a kitchen porter job awaited him on release and provided testimonials describing him as a well-regarded student and talented football player.
