By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Marisa Simms told the Charleton tribunal that Garda Keith Harrison did not seek fame as a whistleblower. The proceedings were reported on 2 October 2017.

The tribunal was examining contacts between gardaí and the HSE and Tusla concerning Harrison, who alleged an abuse of power.

Simms rejected suggestions that Harrison made a protected disclosure in May 2014 for attention or fame.

She also gave evidence about reported Garda activity near her home and at Dunnes Stores, and denied being pressured to change her mind about an earlier complaint.

Social workers told the tribunal that gardaí should not direct welfare investigations, while the inquiry continued to examine the agencies’ contacts.
