Marie McKenna challenges overtime deductions at WRC

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Marie McKenna’s Payment of Wages Act complaint over overtime at the Workplace Relations Commission was reported on 20 April 2022.

McKenna told the commission she had worked a 48-hour week since becoming manager of the Paddy Power shop in Mountview, Blanchardstown, in 2004. She said that after returning in June 2020, she was removed from the rostered overtime she considered part of her normal hours.

Flutter Entertainment’s position was that overtime was voluntary and that lower business levels meant there was no business case to offer it. The report says the adjudicating officer planned to hear another similar complaint in May before ruling, with a decision expected in June.
