Marie Hogan told a Dublin District Coroner’s Court inquest on 29 November 2023 that she knew her husband was dead when she saw the Stardust roof collapse.

Hogan said the couple had been due to move to Kerry with their two children the day after the fire. She described being unable to leave through two doors before a young man pulled her outside.

Her husband, Eugene ‘Hughie’ Hogan, was among the 48 people killed in the fire in Dublin in 1981. Doreen Desmond and Joan Melia also gave evidence about the fire and their attempts to escape.
