Fashion stylist Maria Fusco was spared a criminal conviction for theft at Dublin District Court. She pleaded guilty to theft. The proceedings were reported on 7 December 2013.
Fusco had been charged with stealing €21 worth of groceries from Tesco on Baggot Street on 21 August 2013. Judge Hugh O’Donnell applied section 11 of the Probation Offenders Act, sparing her a criminal record, fine or possible sentence.
The goods were recovered in resaleable condition. Defence solicitor Niall O’Connor said Fusco had paid for other items but did not have the funds for the remaining goods; the report said she had no prior convictions and was receiving €188 a week in social welfare.
