Marcus Wynne received a three-year suspended sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 11 October 2022, for stealing from his school.
He pleaded guilty to nine theft counts and eight counts of producing a false instrument. The Galway Bay FM report says he stole more than €44,000 in 430 transactions over two and a half years from August 2016, and forged invoices to account for the missing money.
The judge accepted that Wynne had addiction issues at the time and had made efforts to repay the money. He had saved €30,000 to return to the school and assured the court he would repay the debt in full if he was not imprisoned.
