Marcus Sweeney returned to the High Court on 19 February 2025 seeking to reopen a Criminal Assets Bureau case over proceeds of crime, but the judge said the case had been settled and told him to follow court procedure.
Mr Justice Owens said he could not tell from Sweeney’s papers what he wanted the court to do. He said there was no liberty to relitigate a matter already settled and warned that he would have a duty guard remove Sweeney if he continued disrupting proceedings; Sweeney then left the court.
The earlier case concerned Co Meath land that Sweeney’s firm, EWM Property Holdings Ltd, agreed in March 2023 to hand over to a receiver appointed through the Criminal Assets Bureau proceedings.
