Marcin Malinski was ordered to complete 240 hours of community service for possession of drugs for sale or supply at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. He pleaded guilty, and the proceedings were reported on 8 February 2017.
The order required the work to be completed within a year in lieu of a two-year jail term. Judge Melanie Greally had adjourned the case for a Probation Service assessment, which was positive.
Malinski said he grew the cannabis to ease back pain and knew it was illegal. Garda Niall Carolan accepted that the cannabis cuttings were consistent with Malinski’s claim that he used lower-strength cannabis for pain, and that he had co-operated with gardaí.
The report said Malinski had no previous convictions, had shown remorse and had good prospects.
