Abdallatif Mohamed (40), also known as Hussein, was jailed for four and a half years after pleading guilty to four counts of assisting women’s unlawful entry into the State. Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that he used Somali diplomatic passports to help several women enter through Dublin Airport during a three-month period in 2024.
The court heard that on November 26, 2024, Mohamed arrived from Abu Dhabi with two women travelling on genuine Somali diplomatic passports that had not been issued to them. Gardaí later found him trying to conceal the women’s genuine passports. The women said they had paid him $14,000 and $15,000 respectively. His admissions also covered similar incidents on September 30 and November 6, 2024.
Judge Dara Hayes said the use of diplomatic passports aggravated the offending. He imposed a five-year sentence, with the final six months suspended on strict conditions, backdated to the date Mohamed entered custody.
