By Tadhg O'Sullivan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Maxwell Itumelang Mosia was jailed for 20 months after pleading guilty to assault causing harm to his former partner in 2019. The Director of Public Prosecutions entered a nolle prosequi on more serious charges, leaving no further charges beyond the assault causing harm charge.

The court heard that Mosia punched and slapped the woman in her home and forced her to undress and shower. She was treated for a burst lip and mild concussion. The judge set a 30-month headline sentence, reduced it to 20 months for his guilty plea and other mitigating factors, and backdated the sentence to when he entered custody earlier that week.
