Luke Foran jailed for burglary and criminal damage

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Luke Foran was resentenced to five years in prison, with the final 12 months suspended, by the Court of Appeal on 13 December 2018 after pleading guilty to burglary and criminal damage among other offences. The offences occurred in Dublin between March and May 2017.

The court increased his earlier sentence after finding it unduly lenient. Foran had entered a family-owned garage in Fairview, caused €20,300 damage and later burned out a stolen car at Dublin Port.

He also admitted offences involving the ransacking of an elderly woman’s home and withdrawals from her bank account. The sentence was reduced to reflect his guilty plea, youth and engagement with rehabilitation services.
