This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Lorcan Merriman was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment, with 18 months suspended, for disposing of the firearm used in Thomas Farnan’s murder at the Court of Appeal, reported on 19 January 2023.

Merriman had pleaded guilty to disposing of the firearm after the murder charge was dropped. The DPP sought a review of his original four-year sentence, which included 18 months suspended, on grounds of undue leniency.

Farnan was shot dead at his front door in Kilcronan Close, Clondalkin, on 25 April 2016. The appeal court also ordered probation supervision during the suspended portion of Merriman’s sentence.
