Lorcan Doody told Dublin District Coroner’s Court on 13 June 2023 that the Stardust’s outside door was locked when he tried to leave, delaying his exit by about three minutes. He left before the fire was noticed.

Doody said the bouncer at the door did not have a key, and they waited for a second man to return with one. He and his friends left at about 1am; the bouncer raised a shutter only partway, so Doody had to duck to get through.
