A 25-year-old Latvian woman received a two-and-a-half-year suspended sentence for assault causing harm at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 1 May 2015. The offence happened at the boy’s Dublin home on 9 April 2014.
The woman pleaded guilty after throwing her partner’s six-year-old child against a wall and hitting him with a mop. Judge Martin Nolan said the sentence was appropriate in light of the circumstances and accepted a psychological report indicating she was not a threat to children.
