This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Lateef Tiamiyu was sentenced to two years in prison for possessing instruments that could be used for fraud. The proceedings were reported on 5 December 2022.

Tiamiyu pleaded guilty to several charges, including possession of instruments that could be used for fraud. The report said officers searched his home on 28 May 2021 after he was identified as attempting to open a bank account using a false passport and utility bill.

The search recovered a card-cloning machine, 17 magnetic strips and six fake passports. His lawyer, Dominic McGinn, argued there was no evidence the materials had been used for fraud and said the case concerned possession rather than widespread fraud. Judge Martin Nolan said the items indicated an intention to engage in profitable criminality.
