Larry McCarthy awaits sentence after pleading guilty over getaway car in Christy Keane attack
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Larry McCarthy pleaded guilty to making a vehicle available to the McCarthy-Dundon criminal organisation for use in the attempted murder of Christy Keane between June 27 and 29, 2015. The Special Criminal Court adjourned sentencing to March 11, 2024.
At a February sentencing hearing, the prosecution said McCarthy helped make a white Volvo available to the gunmen and position it the evening before the attack. Defence counsel described McCarthy’s move to Donegal and his personal circumstances as evidence of a “Damascus Road” change; a psychologist’s report, as described to the court, said he was unlikely to reoffend and posed no significant risk to the public.
