This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Kieran Greene went on trial accused of murdering Patricia O'Connor at a house in Mountainview Park, Rathfarnham, on 29 May 2017. He denies the charge. The proceedings were reported on 15 January 2020.

Louise O'Connor, Stephanie O'Connor and Keith Johnston all deny charges of impeding Greene's apprehension or prosecution. Louise denies agreeing to Stephanie disguising herself as Patricia O'Connor to conceal her death. Stephanie denies disguising herself as her grandmother, knowing or believing she had already been murdered.

Johnston has pleaded not guilty to helping Greene buy implements to conceal Patricia O'Connor's remains. He also denies refurbishing the bathroom to conceal evidence relating to the murder.

The trial heard that Patricia O'Connor's body was dismembered. Fifteen body parts were found at nine locations in the Dublin mountains between 10 and 14 June 2017. The report said Greene initially told gardaí he had killed her after she hit him with a hurley, and that he had dismembered and scattered her remains without assistance.

After his arrest, Greene said she had struck him with a hurley and that he disarmed and struck her. He said he fell, blacked out and remembered little until he found blood everywhere. He later told gardaí that Patricia O'Connor's husband, Gus, had killed her after she attacked Greene, and claimed he had been persuaded to take the blame and set up by others.

The trial was expected to last five to seven weeks.
