This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

A jury accepted the prosecution case that Stephanie O’Connor was the woman seen on CCTV pretending to be her murdered grandmother, Patricia O’Connor, at the family home. The proceedings at the Central Criminal Court were reported on 28 February 2020.

Stephanie was accused of disguising herself as her grandmother to conceal her death. The report said Kieran Greene had been found guilty of murdering Patricia, his partner Louise O’Connor’s mother.

The jury accepted that Stephanie was the woman in a hooded jacket carrying a black suitcase who left the house at 9.34pm on 29 May 2017. The prosecution said the disguise was intended to create a record suggesting Patricia was still alive.

At 10.05pm, a figure carrying a suitcase entered through the back door. Stephanie later accepted that it was her, but told gardaí she had come from the garden shed with a bag for her mother and could not remember how she had got out there. She also told gardaí she had heard her grandmother storm out of the house.

The prosecution said Louise and Stephanie’s cases were linked and that Louise had supported the ruse. The report said there was no direct evidence of Louise agreeing to or acquiescing in Stephanie’s actions.
