Kieran Greene was convicted of murdering his mother-in-law, Patricia O'Connor, following a trial at the Central Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 28 February 2020.
The first part of Patricia O'Connor’s remains was found by a family on 10 June 2017 in the Wicklow Mountains. Further remains were discovered the next day. The report said all 15 body parts were found over a 30km stretch of the mountains, and that Greene had dispersed them at nine locations.
The report said Patricia O'Connor suffered fatal blows to the head and that the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
On 13 June 2017, Greene voluntarily travelled with detectives to a field in Co Wexford where he said he had buried her body. He was arrested on suspicion of murder after the detectives found signs of a shallow grave and a human hair.
The report said Patricia’s husband, Gus O’Connor, was due to be sentenced in April for impeding the garda investigation.
