This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Kian Andrews was jailed for three years by Judge Martin Nolan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for endangerment, dangerous driving and possession of a small amount of drugs. He was also disqualified from driving for three years.

Andrews pleaded guilty. The proceedings were reported on 23 January 2024. The offences arose on 27 December 2022 after he drove at up to 160km/hr in a 50km zone, rammed two garda cars and drove towards Sergeant Daniel Cuffe before officers produced firearms.

The report said Sgt Cuffe agreed it was ‘pure luck’ that nobody was injured. Defence counsel Michael Bowman SC described Andrews’s conduct as reprehensible but said he had potential and promise, had begun an electrician’s apprenticeship, and was being medicated for previously diagnosed ADHD.
