Kevin Shipley was jailed for 33 months at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 17 January 2023 for cannabis possession for sale or supply.
He pleaded guilty to that charge and handling €14,000 in cash that was proceeds of criminal conduct.
The offences occurred at a Dublin address on 8 August 2021, while the proceedings were reported on 19 January 2023.
Judge Martin Nolan backdated the sentence to Shipley’s first custody date and ordered the €14,000 confiscated.
The court heard gardaí estimated the cannabis jellies were worth €33,000, while a defence valuation put them at about €3,000.
The judge said gardaí may have inflated the value and the independent evaluator probably deflated it.
Defence counsel James Dwyer SC said Shipley had a back injury, used cannabis medicinally in the UK and ran an amateurish operation.
