Kevin Molloy admits mortgage fraud in Dublin court

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Kevin Molloy admitted using fraudulent documents to obtain a mortgage for his family home. He pleaded guilty to three offences under the theft and fraud act at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 6 July 2018.

The offences were committed between December 2014 and August 2016 and included dishonestly inducing Ulster Bank at Lower Baggot Street to issue a mortgage on 4 April 2016. Garda investigations found that the bank issued a mortgage of €71,900.

The court heard that Molloy still lived in the home with his family, was paying off the mortgage and that the bank was not concerned about pursuing charges.

Judge Melanie Greally adjourned the case to October, ordered an assessment of Molloy's suitability for community service and remanded him on continuing bail.
