Kenneth Brunell granted bail in Amsterdam murder case

By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Kenneth Brunell was granted bail on 11 September 2014 while fighting extradition to face a murder trial. Keith Ennis’s body parts were found in a suitcase in an Amsterdam canal in March 2009.

Brunell and Barry McArdle were wanted in the Netherlands to stand trial for Ennis’s murder. An order to surrender both men, made three months before the report, was being appealed to the Supreme Court.

Brunell had previously breached bail conditions twice: the first time because of an alleged threat to his life and the second because of family issues. His father offered €6,000 to secure his attendance at future court appearances. A third man had already been extradited.
