Kartikey Gupta given suspended sentence for sexual assault

Kartikey Gupta received a 21-month prison sentence, suspended in full on strict conditions, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 15 January 2024. The assault took place during a concert at Marlay Park in June 2023.

Judge Martin Nolan said sexual assaults are always serious and that the incident caused the woman considerable distress. He described it as being at the less serious end of the scale while recognising its continuing impact on her.

In a victim impact statement, the woman said she had got rid of reminders of the concert and dreaded hearing the headline act’s music in public. She also described anxiety and difficulty leaving her home.

The judge directed Gupta to leave Ireland within two weeks and not return for 10 years. He also directed that €2,500 offered as a token of remorse be offered again to the woman and, if she declined it, given to charity.
