This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Karl Harford received five years, with the final two-and-a-half years suspended, and Tony Dempsey three years, with the final year suspended, for violent disorder at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 5 November 2014. The proceedings were reported on 6 November 2014.

Both men pleaded guilty to committing violent disorder. The offence occurred at the Basin St flat complex, Dublin 8, on 11 July 2013. Both were on bail for other offences at the time.

Harford’s five-year term is to begin after he finishes serving his existing eight-year sentence. Judge Mary Ellen Ring required both men to keep the peace and maintain good behaviour throughout the suspended parts of their sentences.

Dempsey was also given two years in prison for possessing stolen property, which included an axe. That offence took place on 7 August 2013. The term was backdated to 1 July 2014 and is to run concurrently with his three-year sentence for violent disorder.

For a separate breach of the peace at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate St, on 4 September 2013, Harford received five weeks in prison.

Eddie Dempsey, a third accused, had previously received two years in prison for violent disorder. A fourth accused was scheduled for arraignment on 6 November 2014 over the same offence, according to the report.
