Karl Cummins faced a dangerous-driving charge at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. He pleaded guilty. The proceedings were reported on 7 March 2022.
The offence occurred at Fettercairn Ring Road, Tallaght, on 21 July 2017. Cummins had 65 previous convictions, including 15 for dangerous driving, and had been banned from driving for 16 years in 2015.
At the sentencing hearing, Judge Melanie Greally directed Cummins’s €500 token of remorse to the Red Cross campaign for refugees and adjourned the case until 16 June for a community service report. His defence said the offending was serious but that he had changed his ways, and that he was willing to undertake community service.
