Karen Duffy was awarded €1,800 compensation after the Workplace Relations Commission found discrimination on the housing assistance ground, in a decision dated 13 June 2023.

The adjudication officer found that 1st Class Letting & Property Management Ltd ended discussions about a Swords studio after Duffy disclosed she received Housing Assistance Payment.

The officer said the agent had sent bank details for a deposit and said Duffy could probably move in five days later, before replying that the owner could not complete HAP paperwork.

A separate complaint was dismissed as repetitive because it had already been dealt with.
