Judge holds off making extradition surrender orders

Mr Justice Donald Binchy said at the High Court on 19 March 2020 that he would not make surrender orders until the “skies are free again”, as international travel restrictions had made extradition orders almost unimplementable.
The judge said the court was dealing only with urgent matters, including arrests and bail applications, while a number of cases were adjourned until May.
People on bail in some cases no longer had to sign on at Garda stations, provided they supplied a mobile number and remained contactable; other bail conditions continued.
