Judge Karen O’Connor ordered Joseph Moore to perform 240 hours of community service in lieu of three years’ imprisonment. The proceedings were reported on 4 October 2017.

Moore pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of cannabis and cocaine for sale or supply at Clonshaugh Drive, Dublin, on 5 October 2015.

Gardaí found cocaine with an estimated street value of €7,735 and cannabis herb valued at an estimated €2,142 during a planned search of his father’s home. Garda Janice Gray said they also found a digital weighing scales and street deal bags.

Gray said Moore told gardaí the drugs were for his own use, but later pleaded guilty to drug dealing. His barrister, Dean Kelly BL, said others had approached Moore to hold drugs for them and he received a share for his own use.

At a previous hearing, Judge O’Connor said Moore had come close to a jail sentence, but she took account of factors including his work history and family support.
