Jonathan Rafferty was jailed for 11 years, with three and a half years suspended, by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 21 June 2016. He had pleaded guilty to robbery, possession of imitation firearms, drug and stolen-art offences, burglary, dangerous driving and criminal damage in Tallaght and Citywest. The court heard he had been caught with €600,000 of drugs and stolen art after a cash-in-transit robbery. Judge Patricia Ryan imposed consecutive sentences and noted his rehabilitation efforts and lack of further Garda attention.
Rafferty had 12 previous convictions and had written a letter of apology to the court. His defence said drug use, a €6,000 debt and a cocaine habit had contributed to his offending.
