Jonathan Fitzgerald loses Supreme Court murder appeal

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Jonathan Fitzgerald lost his appeal against his murder conviction at the Supreme Court, which unanimously dismissed it on 29 November 2018. The murder happened outside a home in O’Malley Park, Southill, Limerick, on 18 December 2006.

The five-judge court rejected arguments that the trial judge should have warned the jury to treat a female witness as an accomplice. Fitzgerald was convicted of murdering Noel Crawford, who was shot on his 40th birthday, and received a life sentence in 2011.
