John Paul and Frances Doyle faced a High Court possession case on 19 April 2016 after Longford County Council sought orders over a council house in Casey Court, Kenagh, Co Longford. The council claimed they entered the vacant property without permission and sought to restrain them from entering or re-entering it. Mr Justice Paul Gilligan granted permission for short notice of the injunction proceedings and adjourned the matter for a week.
The couple were on the local authority’s housing list, while the council said it had offered the property to another family. The application was made without the couple being present in court.
