This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

John O'Connor's extradition hearing in the High Court was adjourned on 23 November 2022 to clarify three accounting offences linked to his Swedish tax fraud convictions.

He had been convicted of three accounting offences, 10 VAT and tax offences and one money-laundering count, and sentenced by Stockholm District Court to three years and eight months' imprisonment. The Swedish Court of Appeal upheld the sentences in July 2021.

The report said O'Connor had served 647 days before absconding to Ireland in July 2022 while on temporary release, and was arrested here on 3 September 2022. His counsel disputed the clarity and connection of the accounting offences, questioned his degree of involvement and said the VAT sums did not add up. The proceedings were reported on 23 November 2022.
