John McClean pleaded guilty in November 2020 to 27 charges of indecently assaulting males at Terenure College in Dublin.

The charges concerned 23 boys and related to dates between 1973 and 1990, when McClean worked at the school. Further charges were being taken into consideration.

At a sentence hearing at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 10 February 2021, the court heard evidence concerning the abuse of 15 of the 23 victims. The proceedings were reported on 10 February 2021.
