JJ Rhatigan was named in a report of a Lucan crane occupation over pay and conditions, reported on 7 October 2014. Two workers occupied a tower crane overnight at the Kishoge Community College building project in Lucan, County Dublin. Unite said the workers had been locked out for seven weeks after JJ Rhatigan refused to engage with them.

Unite regional officer Tom Fitzgerald said the union did not sanction the action but understood the workers’ anger. The report said the workers were employed on a Government-funded project and were allegedly paid less than €5 an hour.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
