This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Jamie Geoghan was sentenced to two years in prison for violent disorder at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 30 October 2024. The offence took place at a boys’ secondary school in Dublin on 13 October 2022.

The court heard that Geoghan threw a steel pole at a student during the confrontation, narrowly missing the student and a staff member. No one was physically injured during the incident. Judge Orla Crowe said the incident must have been extremely frightening for the school population and the student who was chased.

The sentence was backdated to 22 July 2024, when Geoghan pleaded guilty. He was on bail when the offence occurred and was serving a six-year sentence for another matter, the report said.
