This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

James Lawlor was sentenced to three years and nine months for burglary at the Mater Hospital Foundation, with the final nine months suspended for two years on strict conditions. Judge Orla Crowe said the court wished to incentivise his rehabilitation.

The court heard that Lawlor pleaded guilty to the February 7th, 2024 burglary. The investigating garda said he had been released from custody a week before the offence after serving a three-year sentence for burglary. Judge Crowe cited the timing, the unrecovered property, Lawlor’s previous convictions and the value of the stolen property as aggravating factors. The garda agreed that Lawlor had a long history of addiction and that many of his previous convictions related to drug use.
