James Lammon’s appeal against his murder conviction was adjourned by the Court of Appeal for a remote hearing on 19 May 2021; the report was published on 10 May 2021.
Lammon had been convicted by a Central Criminal Court jury in October 2016 of murdering Jason Doogue in Athy, Co Kildare, on 21 August 2015, and was serving a life sentence. He argued that he had not agreed to his legal team allowing Garda evidence about an alleged exercise-yard conversation to be admitted without challenge; he denied the conversation took place.
The State disputed Lammon’s account, and his former solicitor testified that the proposed agreement had been discussed with him. The appeal court adjourned the case.
