James Lambert and David McKee were sentenced for health and safety breaches at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 22 October 2014. Each was ordered to complete 200 hours of community service instead of a six-month prison sentence after employee Stephen Hampson was fatally injured in a goods lift at the Blu Bar in Tallaght.
Lambert pleaded guilty to two charges, including recklessly placing workers’ safety at risk and failing to manage work safely. McKee pleaded guilty to three breaches, including failing to ensure employees’ safety and placing workers’ safety at risk, according to the report.
The lift was not designed to carry people, and Hampson was crushed between the lift car and the lift shaft, the Health and Safety Authority said.
