James Gough case adjourned over HRI nominee dispute

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

James Gough’s High Court challenge over the selection of Horse Racing Ireland’s owners’ nominee was adjourned on 14 February 2019 after AIRO offered undertakings.

Gough claims the Association of Irish Racehorse Owners prevented his name being put to members for re-nomination to the HRI board.

AIRO disputes his claims, maintaining its nomination is valid under the organisation’s rules and that he is not entitled to bring the proceedings.

The organisation agreed not to hold the nominee-selection meeting for 21 days, while both sides agreed a timetable for exchanging documents.

The case was due to return to court early the following month, according to the report.
