James Barry’s four-and-a-half-year sentence for robbery was upheld by the Court of Appeal on 9 October 2018. He had robbed a McDonald’s on Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin, after holding a knife to a cashier and taking €330.
Barry had pleaded guilty to that robbery and to taking €460 from a Camden Street chemist. The appeal court found no error in principle and dismissed his challenge to the consecutive sentences imposed after the McDonald’s robbery was committed while he was on bail.
