An Irish celebrity was acquitted on 20 October 2023 of three counts of engaging in sexual acts with a child under 17, following a trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

He pleaded not guilty to the three counts. The charges concerned alleged acts at locations in Dublin between August and December 2010, when the complainant was 16 and the man was 27.

The jury returned not guilty verdicts on all counts after an eight-day trial and just under six hours of deliberations. Judge Pauline Codd had told jurors that the court would accept a verdict on which at least 10 of them agreed after they indicated they could not reach a unanimous decision.

The proceedings were reported on 20 October 2023. The man, who was 40 at the time of the report, cannot be named for legal reasons.
