Ionut Danca has been sentenced to six years in prison, with the final six months suspended, for manslaughter after kicking Canadian tourist Neno Dolmajian in the head in Dublin. He will serve five and a half years. The sentence was imposed by Mr Justice Paul McDermott.

Danca pleaded guilty to the unlawful killing. The proceedings were reported on 17 February 2026. The assault happened on 23 June 2024 and Dolmajian died nine days later at the Mater Hospital.

The judge said Danca had no prior convictions and had been a hard worker. He also said Dolmajian had been affected by alcohol and may have been verbally aggressive, but was not much of a physical threat and was outnumbered.

Co-accused Madalin Ghiuzan was sentenced to 12 months for assault. As he had already served four and a half months, the balance was suspended and he was to be released.
