Ibrahim Buisir was fined €600 at Dublin District Court after pleading guilty to assaulting Det Garda Gillian Morris and Det Garda Leanna Cruise. The proceedings were reported on 13 November 2013.
The report said the incident occurred on 17 January the previous year at Hillview Grove, Ballinteer, Dublin 16. Buisir had been driving when he was stopped over his driving licence, an absent NCT disc and unpaid vehicle tax. Det Garda Cruise said he became aggressive, pushed Morris and then pushed her in the chest.
Buisir said he had been suffering from medical problems at the time. His lawyer said he had survived throat cancer, and had diabetes and high blood pressure; the report also noted that he used a walking stick and received disability allowance.
Judge Conal Gibbons described the behaviour as “outrageous”. Buisir avoided jail, but the €600 fine had to be paid within six months or he faced 30 days in jail. The report also said he had been convicted in March of threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour towards gardaí and ordered to contribute to charity.
