High Court rejects pharmacy student’s challenge to Trinity fitness-to-practise decision

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The High Court has refused Timothy Orimolusi’s challenge to Trinity College Dublin’s fitness-to-practise process, leaving in place the decision that withdrew him from the M. Pharm course. Mr Justice Barry O’Donnell ruled that the University’s procedures were open to judicial review, but that only the challenge to the Visitors’ decision could be considered and that challenge could not succeed.

The Visitors’ decision affirmed findings that Mr Orimolusi was not fit to practise as a pharmacist. He had sought orders quashing decisions made within Trinity, arguing that the process and its procedures were flawed. The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland was a respondent but did not participate in the proceedings.
