High Court ordered Buckleys to pay Caroline Teltsch more than €800,000

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The High Court ordered James Buckley and Paula Buckley to pay Caroline Teltsch more than €800,000 in a dispute over loans and property. Mr Justice Liam Kennedy delivered the judgment on 25 July 2024.

Teltsch said she had advanced loans to the couple between 2010 and 2018, including money to refurbish and run the Emerald Equestrian Centre in Enfield, Co Kildare. She claimed she had received no repayment and alleged fraud, deceit and misrepresentation.

The Buckleys had denied the claims. Their defence was struck out after they failed to comply with an order to disclose documents and other material. They did not attend the hearing on 23 July 2024 and were not represented.

The judge found that Teltsch had funded the purchase of the Enfield properties and was their beneficial owner, while James Buckley held them in trust for her. He found that Buckley had disposed of two properties without her knowledge or consent and had not accounted to her for the proceeds.

Teltsch said a 2018 agreement had resulted in the main property being transferred back to her as partial consideration for the alleged debt. The judge found she was already its beneficial owner and that the transfer did not satisfy amounts otherwise due to her.

The court also declared that Teltsch was entitled to be registered as an owner of a stallion called Louis, of which she owned 50 per cent; James Buckley owned the remaining half.

A court record lists a further High Court judgment in the case, delivered by Mr Justice Cregan on 22 June 2026. The supplied record does not disclose its outcome.
