Helen Conlan, administrator of the estate of her late mother, Patricia Cosgrave, sued AIB over an alleged agreement to write off €11.2 million of the estate’s debt. The dispute came before the Commercial Court. The proceedings were reported on 9 March 2015.

The case was admitted to the Commercial Court list by Mr Justice Brian McGovern by consent between the parties. Helen Conlan claimed an agreement was reached in May 2014 under which AIB would forgive the fourth credit facility if the first three facilities were repaid in full before they were due. Patrick Leonard SC, for Helen Conlan, said it was hoped the matter could be resolved through mediation.
