This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Gregory Dunne was jailed for possessing heroin at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 16 October 2023, where Judge Elma Sheahan imposed eight years with the final year suspended. Dunne pleaded guilty to possessing 2.9kg of heroin. The proceedings were reported on 16 October 2023.

The offence occurred outside the Lamplighter pub in Dublin 8 on 12 April 2022, where Dunne was seen handing a package to Sharon Hickey. The heroin was later assessed at an estimated street value of €417,480.

The report said Dunne had 19 previous convictions, including a 2012 heroin conviction. Garda Kerrie Sullivan agreed he was cooperative in interview and that his life showed no trappings of wealth, but placed him slightly above the operation’s bottom rung. Defence counsel said Dunne had overcome drug misuse after residential treatment, but later returned to tablets following drug debts and a serious 2018 road accident.
